Russ Crandall – The Domestic Man

We have invited Russ Crandall – author and creator of The Domestic Man – to share his fantastic journey from illness to wellness.  At age 24, Russ found himself a victim of a stroke and then later diagnosed with the rare autoimmune disease Takayasu’s Arteritis.  After six years of steroids and immunosuppressant medication therapy, Russ began to feel the toll of the medication.  He felt lousy almost all of the time – and worse still – he couldn’t foresee it getting any better.

Russ then happened across an article that mentioned this crazy diet modeled after cavemen that eliminated grains – a diet that claimed that it could reverse autoimmune symptoms.

Join us for this informative presentation by Russ.  Hear more about his story – and learn more about “eating Paleo”.  Perhaps Russ will share some of his delicious recipes, too!

Jay the Trainer – Eating for Performance

A large part of CrossFit concerns our diet and how it affects not only exercise, but our overall life performance.  Many in our CrossFit community describe their diets as Paleo, Zone, or simply a clean – a diet consisting of largely of whole foods.  The CrossFit nutrition prescription is:

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. - CrossFit Journal

Jay will be sharing the science behind good nutrition – eating for performance, and enhancing your life both in and out of the gym.
